Finding sustainably-produced fruit that's been grown close to home at the grocery store can be difficult. We think it should be possible to have both! www.redtomato.org.
Since 2005, Red Tomato has been working with the IPM Institute of North America and a network of amazing farmers in close collaboration with scientists across the Northeast to find a way around the problem of local vs. sustainable. The collaboration resulted in the Eco Program: Certified sustainably grown Northeast apples and stone fruit (berries are on the way!).
Eco-certified orchards are family farms, growing their fruit with a combination of cutting edge science and expertise passed down for generations.
And then look for Eco Apple and Eco Peach in a grocery store near you!
