http://www.euronews.com/ Japan's has been hit by a massive earthquake off its northeastern coast.

Tremors from the 7.3 magnitude quake could be felt as far away as Tokyo.

The quake was centred off an area devastated by last year's Fukushima atomic disaster, but there have been no reports of any deaths or serious damage.

Thousands of coastal residents were ordered to evacuate to higher ground, but the tsunami warning was lifted two hours after the quake struck.

Last year's quake and subsequent tsunami killed nearly 20,000 people and triggered the world's worst nuclear crisis in 25 years when the Fukushima nuclear plant was destroyed, leaking radiation into the sea and air.
