The poem of Odysseus' dog Argos recited at Taft coffee house. Argos was the most loyal dog waiting for his master twenty years to return from Troy (Troah/ Trojan War). When Odysseus finally returned, Argos saw him and died...
The Greek poem of Argos was from a fourth grade school book and it remains as a favorite of the one who recites it! It expresses the ever faithfulness and loyalty of a dog to its beloved master, as it kept itself alive waiting for Odysseus to come home... but in the meantime, in my opinion, the dog protected Odysseus' son Thlemaxos, wife Penelope, and father Laertis during his absence...Loyal till the very end...O Argos Tou Odyssea! Never have I read of such dog loyalty and love except of the news informing of dogs who fought and got killed from bears in order to defend their masters. Thank God for the beautiful gift of the dog...God Bless!
