We checked in at the Bring Back Our Post Office meeting at Garfield Community Center on May 2, 2019 to see what the status is in regards to the return of postal services to the community. The post office on 23rd and Union was closed in December 18' to make way for the new Midtown Development. In doing so Central District residents have been greatly impacted. Officials from the USPS were present to listen to the community as well as offer a few possible locations. Also in attendendce was Keanna Pickett, owner of The Postman, which is a shipping and business solutions company located in the CD and who business has been filling the gap that the USPS departing left in the community. The meeting was organized by Seattle Council Member, Kshama Sawant who's office received 550 petition signatures supporting efforts to restore postal services to the Central District immediately.
