Originally a gospel-infused soul song, written by American vocalist Pegasus Warning, The Mountain was transformed by collaboration between Spoek Mathambo and legendary township house producers DJ Spoko & DJ Mujava. All of the intensity and emotion of the original is retained, and given new life under a shower of snare drums and synths.

The music video was shot in the township of Khayelitsha, Cape Town, to express how Spoek Mathambo interpreted Pegasus Warning's lyrics. For Spoek, The Mountain represented struggling and striving, thriving and failing. The music video was written to show the struggles of growing up from childhood to youth, the feeling that you are climbing a mountain...or drowning. To answer some questions. What is freedom? What is escape? What is drowning? What is responsibility?

The music video continuously juxtaposes swimming/drowning; beautiful township portraits; carefree playing of children; and hedonistic partying.
