How do I know I am changing
as I do my meditation practice day after day?
The Heartfulness approach creates a deep and lasting change
that is interesting to observe and record.
There are several tools to monitor change.
The easiest one to use is the personal journal.
Let us note down all that we observe in our personal journal,
from what happens during the practice to all that is related to it.
Dreams, specific ideas or thoughts that come up, revelations, inspirations; all that we find important.
When we read our personal diary
after a while we may notice that we have changed.
We do need to be patient, though. Deep change can take time
to manifest just like all other transformation.
When we read our diaries after a long period of time we are often surprised to see the distance covered, how we have changed,
how much we have discovered since,
and how much our approach to life has changed.
No matter how much we want to change, it is in our best
interest to be gentle and kind towards our self in this matter.
Heartfulness meditation is a natural process
allowing change to blossom from within.
To focus on a negative tendency and expect for it
to disappear right away, might be counter productive!
Where focus goes energy flows. So it is often in letting go,
that we allow the real change to happen.
Writing in the diary and letting it rest there is a good way
to shift focus from many unwanted things in life.
We also need to be open-hearted –
let us not expect change in any specific area only.
We could be surprised to see where change happens. We may experience change in a trait we were not even aware that we had!
Our family and close friends are often
the best witnesses to our change.
Haven't so many of us chosen to start meditation
after we saw the effects it had on our near and dear ones?
