This hope filled documentary highlights the personal struggles of military personnel and their families with the realities of trauma recovery.
Nearly everyone will experience some form of trauma. Accidents, mental or physical abuse, violence, injury, illness, or the death of a loved one can cause post-traumatic stress (PTS). If the PTS is serious and not resolved, it can become post-traumatic stress disorder (PTS(d) and its victims may suffer devastating effects.
PTS(d) does not discriminate. It can take down the strong and the weak, change behavior, cause addictions, destroy marriages and families, and even take the lives of its victims. As many as 22 veterans per day take their own lives due to PTS(d).
In Triggered, renowned trauma expert Victor Marx, himself a victim of PTS(d), takes the viewer on a journey to understand PTS(d), its symptoms and treatments, and to find hope for recovery. Unscripted, raw and authentic interviews with PTS(d) victims and insightful interviews with experts in the field, reveal how victims can free themselves from its life-crippling effects, and offers encouragement and hope for not only those who suffer from PTS(d) but also for those who love them.
