In this simulation the Cardiology Suite functions as the command center for the Cardiac Catherization and Electrophysiology at the Intelligent Hospital , as well being the Cardiology data center. Within the data center cardiologist can access a variety of patient centric information including; historical ECG, Holter data, stress /echo, and catherization images. In addition, real time physiological parameters can be centrally monitored.
The area provides high value supply management using RFID coupled cabinets to validate the implants and supplies used in the patient treatment. These supplies utilize newly adapted standards, such as GS1, used for the unique device identifier (UDI).
As in all locations of the hospital, this area is supported by a robust wired and wireless infrastructure as a variety of mobile devices used for secure messaging, alarm delivery and staff to staff communications.
The design of the Cardiology Suite and overall Intelligent HospitalTM requires close partnerships between end users, including physicians and nurses, healthcare administrators, and industry, to determine how existing technologies may best be combined and integrated into practice. It is the goal of the Intelligent Health Association to raise the level of awareness of the available technologies and provide educational programs around research, standards, regulatory issues, operational flow and optimization.
