with the help of a good bud and his trusty SLR, just a quick little demo of a pedal i was sent to try out.

its called the "Nineveh", and its a two channel overdrive pedal. all in all, highly impressed! right out of the box, i barely really mess with the knobs in the video, and yet, could quickly find a great sound.

my first impression is the expansive range of dirt from this one pedal. i could get an ever so slightly gritty with a hint of top end hair, to a thick, juicy, ferocious roar. while it wont quite do metal on its own through a fender twin, this pedal can still cover a lot of bases. couple all that with great touch sensitivity all throughout the gain dial, not to mention its ability to clean up beautifully, and already i'm a fan.

the initial first side is a sweet, lighter overdrive that reminds me of a BJF honey bee. again, you can dial in an almost infinitesimal amount of dirt for an extra bit of lively sizzle to your clean sound, or you can open up the volume and use that side as a clean boost. but switch to the second channel, and it'll tear things wide open with a wall of overdrive. the nineveh's second channel has that chunky grit, but stays juicy and rich, while not too grainy. seems to sit between the aggressive zvex box of rocks and the grainier exotic bb preamp.

also, i like that extra bit of high end air that the nineveh adds to your tone. i live on the neck and middle positions of my prs, and much like the zvex sho, the nineveh adds a nice articulate edge to the leads. and that extra air is great for cleaner lines on the first channel, too.

the switches cut a bit of the lower end, and didn't really have them on, but then again, i'm using a small 1x12 and need all the low end i can get. but, i'm sure through a larger woofier closed back 4x12, this could be very handy to have.

sure, we all need another overdrive pedal like a hole in the head, but this new offering is definitely well worth a look.
