How to add water into source sdk hammer. This is my second tutorial. Please comment about my new animated beginning and sound to it. I would love to hear what I should improve.
How to configure Garry's Mod for Source SDK Hammer...
Go to library
Download Source SDK
Open Source SDK
Open Hammer Editor
Click tools, options
There should be a window that shows called "Configure Hammer"
If isnt open, go to tab "Game Configurations"
Under "Configuration:" press Edit
And type in the games name, Garry's Mod...note, it doesnt have to be Garry's Mod but its the name that shows in the dropdown when opening Hammer
Under "Configuration:" click the dropdown and choose Garry's Mod or the name you specified
Under "Game Data files:" press Add, go to: $SteamUserDir\sourcesdk\bin\orangebox\bin\halflife2.fdg
Under "Texture Format:" choose Materials (Half-Life 2), if not already chosen
Under "Map Type:" choose Half-Life 2, if not already chosen
Under "Default PointEntity class:" choose info_player_start
Under "Default SolidEntity class:" choose func_detail
Beside "Default texture scale" type 0.25, if not already specified
Beside "Default lightmap scale" type 16, if not already specified
Beside "Cordon texture:" click browse... and choose tools/toolsskybox
Under "Game Executable Directory (ex: c:\Half-Life):" type $SteamUserDir\garrysmod
Under "Game Directory (where GameInfo.txt is, ex: c:\Half-Life\cstrike):" type $SteamUserDir\garrysmod
Under "Hammer VMF Directory (ex: C:\Half-Life\maps):" type $SteamUserDir\sourcesdk_content\garrysmod\mapsrc...NOTE: You may have to create a file called garrysmod with subfolder mapsrc in $SteamUserDir\sourcesdk_content
Now click tab "Build Programs"
Under "Configuration:" click Garry's Mod or the name you specified, in the dropdown
Under "Game executable:" type $SteamUserDir\garrysmod\hl2.exe
Under "BSP executable:" type $SteamUserDir\sourcesdk\bin\orangebox\bin\vbsp.exe
Under "VIS executable:" type $SteamUserDir\sourcesdk\bin\orangebox\bin\vvis.exe
Under "RAD executable:" type $SteamUserDir\sourcesdk\bin\orangebox\bin\vrad.exe
Under "Place compiled maps in this directory before running the game" type $SteamUserDir\garrysmod\garrysmod\maps
Restart Source SDK completely (just incase)
Beside "Engine Version:" choose Source Engine 2009
Beside "Current Game:" choose Garry's Mod or the name you specified
Open Hammer Editor
And now you will beable to create maps for garrysmod
NOTE: Before opening the map in Garry's Mod, save the map and test run it (Shortcut key F9)
