• To earn her award, Erin volunteered over 400 hours to assist wounded and deployed US soldiers. She led her community to donate food and other essentials to send to Iraq, and sewed homemade quilts for soldiers in rehab units at Fort Bragg. For Personal Development, she trained her horse to the international dressage level of Prix St. Georges, successfully competing and winning the United States Equestrian Federation Reserve Championship for Dressage Equitation. For Physical Fitness, she trained and ran a half marathon to raise scholarship money for kids to go to Camp Seafarer. During her Expedition, she volunteered on a video crew shooting a pilot in rural Brazil for two weeks. There, she learned enough Portuguese to interpret for the other American on the crew.
