If measures are not taken to control invasive vegetation and tree species, they will choke out native vegetation. The Woodlands forest and much of the surrounding area would likely end up with a mono-culture of Chinese Tallow which would quickly become the dominate species. A forest of solely Chinese Tallow would likely be the future of Woodlands Trail and the entire Barataria Preserve if we don't get in and actively do something about controlling exotics. The notion of nature controlling the picture is a false perception.
