Pope Francis received the president of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya. During the cordial meeting, the two said they were pleased with the good bilateral relations, reinforced by the conclusion of negotiations for a framework agreement on the juridical status of the Catholic Church in Cameroon, expected to be signed soon. Appreciation was expressed for the work of the Church in Cameroon in the fields of health and education, and in favour of peace and reconciliation. Finally, challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa and Cameroon's commitment in favour of security and peace in the region was discussed.
