This is a response video to the UCLA Black Bruins letting them know we feel where they are coming from. Here at Oregon State University, the total Black student population makes up only 1.3% of the total student body. Nationally, the graduation rate for Black males is 33%. Recent research shows that there are more Black men going to college than prisons. However, we need to graduate. So let's IGNITE!
Shout out to Sy Stokes for taking the lead! We have your back!

Lyrics:
At Oregon State University there is a total of 27,925 students, of that number there are only 366 black students which makes us 1.3% of the OSU population. There are 14,897 male identified students. Of those 14,897 there are only 201 African American men on this campus which makes up .7% of the population.
It starts with the mission
Oregon State University promotes economic, social, cultural and environmental progress for the people of Oregon, the nation, and the world.
And herein lies the problem, that institutions are businesses.
And let us paint a picture of that mission in action. It seems when we try to draw up the numbers there are many here missing in action and they become a part of the national fraction of those who did not make it. And hopefully this news brings national traction.
With economic progress flaunted in our mission, we can't even fake it, because in this era when education is an option, many black students can't event take it with rising tuition and loan interests it's interesting to see how much of them actually have helped our people.
See institutions are just businesses that want to get paid. While students are struggling to get financial aid OSU is spending money on projects like the 2011 building initiative for a man who made major advancements in Eugenics; Linus Carl Pauling.
In fall 2011 only 24 black males freshmen were admitted to Oregon state university and we try to claim diversity but when there are only 201 total black men of the 14,897 we begin to feel the adversity when we are the only black students in our science classes. Social progress or social project?
And we are projected to fail. In fall of 2006 only 17 black male freshmen were admitted to the Beaver Nation, of that 17 only 10 graduated within 6 years. A graduation rate of 58%. Should we be proud of our rates, our fates almost written out before us?
And a beaver doesn't give a dam if the water downstream disappears as long as he's got his and the way this biz works is we ship over national students, charge them extra, and call it multiculturalism naw cash crop. And the schism exists when the fresh waters of cultures are stopped up in multiculturalism like Disney Epcot center world exhibit. My culture is NOT a museum! Yet it's like you lock all our heroes, all our history, and all our hope in mausoleum.
And how can you ask us to be Beaver Bold when black male students are left in the cold to hold our heads up when our numbers are always dropping like the hammers that build our prisons. What kind of environment is this?!
And that's the whole mission spelled out, economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress? I'd digress.
So to the Black Bruins of UCLA, we feel you, and to the dark voices yet unspoken around the nation, we hear you.
