Félix Vallotton (1865-1925) was a Swiss-born French Nabi painter and printmaker. The Nabis (a group which existed throughout the 1890s) were influenced by Paul Gauguin, Japanese woodcuts, and Symbolist painting. Other members of this group, which formed in the late 19th Century in Paris, included Paul Sérusier (the founder of the group), Pierre Bonnard, Edouard Vuillard, and Maurice Denis. The Nabis were interested graphic arts (such as prints, posters, book illustrations) as well as the fine arts.
