0:49 Like Akin, Iowa Congressman Steve King supports legislation that would prevent taxpayer funded abortions in cases of incest or statutory rape of a child. "well I just haven't heard of that being a circumstance that's been brought to me in any personal way, and I'd be open to discussion about that subject matter." King made that statement yesterday and went on to defend akin's character - saying he should be judged on his voting record, not his comments on abortion
2:20 King did not call on Akin to apologize for his comments, but several other Iowa Republicans did. Representative Tom Latham didn't mince words in his comments on Akin. he released this statement .. "as a husband, father of two daughters and a grandfather of a precious granddaughter, I was thoroughly disgusted with the recent coments of missouri us senate candidate Todd Akin. His words are ignorant, reprehensible and denigrating to both victims of sexual asault and all women." Senator Chuck Grassley today called Akin's comments "stupid" and said he neds to drop out... saying "the greater good for the United States would be that we have another candidate for the Senate in Missouri.'
