Lisbon Weather Month by Month
The capital city of Portugal, Lisbon boasts seasons that are very temperate, which means there are not extremes of temperature to worry about. The winter months are very mild and never freeze, while the summer is never too hot, but has lots of hours of sunshine.
The weather around the Lisbon coast is greatly influenced by the Gulf Stream, whose waters bring heat from the North which serves to regulate extreme temperatures on the land. In Europe, the city is known as having one of the mildest climates in the Union.
Compare it to other cities in Europe - Lisbon is very agreeable during the Winter, boasting a mean temperature of around fifteen centigrade during the day. It's incredibly unusual to experience freezing temperatures night-time hours in the Winter monthgs. You just don't get ice or frost, in general!
You can look forward to a summer season of over six months, a season that lasts until past October. Average temperature is something like twenty five degrees during the day, and it won't hit less than sixteen during nigh time hours. Even during the winter months there could be a very reasonable temperature of more than twenty degrees centigrade, which is pretty good whatever the month!
It goes without saying that there are some rainy months, just like any temperate climate, but a great thing is that the summer is mostly a dry one.
As it's a city close to the ocean, Lisbon has a lot of wind and it might spring up suddenly, you'll need weather proof clothing, just to be safe! Annual rainfall is spread around a bit, but you are normally safe in the Summer.
the ancient meandering roads and staircases in stone form old town's special ambiance - the greenery of the parks to the West is also a welcome change from the city buildings.
Smack in the middle of the city, the prestigious area known as 'Praça do Comércio" facing the river close to the base of the strictly pedestrians only region, Baixa (this means low town), nestles between the centre buildings.
As we travel to the North West, we discover the central street of Lisbon, officially named Avenida da Liberdade. This avenue has a lot to offer - spreading trees for shade on hot days, hotels considered chic and up-market shops.
