Two male elephants visit our campsite in Savuti, Botswana. Arriving so quietly that I did not know they were there until I stepped out of my tent. I thought it best to just stand dead still - and it was difficult but it paid off. I could hear them chewing, smell them and see the little hairs on the trunk of the elephant that came right up to me. He looked right into my eyes, he knew I was there, but at no time did I feel threatened. How carefully and quietly he stepped over the tents guy-ropes only leaving large footprints in the sand. Footprints the size of tennis raquets. A most amazing experience. This video was taken by my brother-in law as they returned to camp to find me caught up with these magnificent giants.
