Ari Brown, MD, FAAP, offers parents tips on children and media. In October 2016, the American Academy of Pediatrics published its new guidelines for parents on the use of media by children, “Media and Young Minds” and “Media Use in School-Aged Children and Adolescents.” These policies recommend parents mentor their children on how to use media, serve as good role models, and create a family media use plan, which can be created with an interactive online tool on HealthyChildren.org. Dr. Brown offers a few tips from the new policies on how to make the most out of today’s diverse digital media.
