Something pretty special happens when Lawrence Conservatory of Music faculty members leave their classrooms and the practice rooms and hit the stage.
When the arrival of Bill Carrothers, lecturer of music, and José Encarnación, instructor of jazz studies, led to the creation of a new faculty jazz quintet, you can imagine the sweet sounds that followed.
This week we're sitting in on a recording session for the quintet's upcoming CD. The song being performed is called Coda, composed by Mark Urness, associate professor of music and teacher of string bass. Joining Urness, Carrothers and Encarnación are Dane Richeson, professor of music, and Matt Turner, lecturer of music. We hope you enjoy it.
