I am so angry at God for taking Danny from us so soon and in such brutal fashion. But one day I'll be able to see him play in person...that will truly be heaven.

Great tone, great feel, Wes like, and yes some borrowed phrases.. but as great as Danny was, he could play "jazzy", but he wasn't a jazz player...that does not make him any less of a musician than Wes, Benson, Pass, etc, but his jazz concept was nowhere near theirs...none of the aforementioned however could do what he did with "Sleep Walk"...so who's the best?  whomever you care to listen to at that moment in time...there is no best...appreciate what each has to offer, and your own playing as well....
Danny was such an unbelievable talent. There are genuinely so few that are or were so naturally gifted in all facets of music.

He should be playing at Carnegie Hall not the freakin' Holiday Inn.

The late great Danny Gatton I have been watching his guitar playing videos for 10+ years still can't figure out how he does what he does! I personally think he was the best guitarist in the world when he was around and today who can outplay Danny? Nobody not Jimi not Jeff not Eric Clapton not srv or Carlos Santana the only guys that can maybye hang with him are gary Moore who is brilliant also, Rory Gallagher also brilliant player of course his nemesis Roy bucanan who was a truly great tele player the current best guitar player Joe bonamassa is very good but he is no Danny Gatton and never will be also srv who was great also had he survived who knows? Another present alive guitarist who is unknown basically is the great Scotty Anderson out of Cincinnati Ohio he is brilliant guitarist and lenny bruea who is gone but Danny is the king of the tele period!

I think I have watched every Danny Gatton video at least 3 times and I firmly believe he was something we will never see again... a human juke box... name a song and he could play it with more feeling and versatility than anyone else... in my book the best bar none!
