I wrote this song two years ago right after the terrible Mercaz Harav massacre, where a terrorist went into the library of the yeshiva and shot and killed 8 students of the high school. This song is in their memory and honor. I think the concept of true ''simcha'' is largely misunderstood, so with this song I aim to reanalyze that a bit and make us stop and really think what true happiness really is. Thanks to Chanan Weiss of Shaalvim for giving me his piano on Taanis Esther to write this song. May the memory of those 8 boys constantly inspire us.

Here are the lyrics in case you were interested:

8 candles were snuffed out last night
sefarim in their hands, learning torah with all their might
our precious children, what a tragedy
how can we enter adar and still be happy
well, purim's coming; an escape from all of this
let's just drink ourselves to numbing bliss
but let's face it, that's not what it's all about
i guess it's up to us to figure this all out

so let's remember our brothers who are no longer
and use this as an opportunity to make ourselves stronger
simcha doesn't mean neglecting the pain
it means taking what we've learned and moving forward every day

enjoy, and may we all be zoche to receive the true holiness and simcha of adar and purim this year and forever!
