LEADR mapping is a multi-scale shading technique which can be coupled with a multi-resolution meshing scheme to render high quality models at unprecedented speed on current GPUs. Our method compensates geometric simplifications at all scales by seamlessly "injecting" them in a multiscale shading model, which handles directional, point, and environment lighting for diffuse and specular surfaces. All results were produced with a single shading evaluation per pixel. Read more at http://hal.inria.fr/hal-00858220/en Work presented at SIGGRAPH Asia 2013.
