The "Tea Time" name represents our involvement with the game of golf as a way to help those who are in recovery from alcohol and/or drug abuse, and that our events will always be alcohol-free.

The name "Tea Time" originated with Pete Sesso and James Sugarman. Both men saw a tremendous need in our community to create a "non alcoholic" event to help people suffering from the negative affects of alcohol and/or substance abuse. A "teetotaler" is someone who does not drink alcohol; thus, the name Tea Time Golf is symbolic of this vital effort to help those who have faced alcoholism and drug addiction.

Pete, with many years of golf management experience, conceived the idea for the Tea Time Golf Classic. Both Pete and Jim, along with the support of the Tea Time Golf Classic Advisory Board, recognized the need to help people who cannot afford treatment for alcohol and/or substance abuse, or who have few resources and/or no direction for themselves or their families following treatment. We recognize that when people have a willingness to restore their lives, and are given a helping hand, they will move towards the road to recovery.

The Tea Time Golf Classic will be a significant way of providing that "helping hand."
