"Most musicians and artists I know tend to think outside the box. They are innovators who rarely stay between the lines. They are the right-brained fortunate few who push the envelope, chart new territories, and take risks that yield beautiful results. And me? Well, I like excel spreadsheets, creating travel itineraries, and balancing my check book. I’m a left-brainer who likes to play it safe. Traditionally, the only risks I take are calculated and actually not that risky at all. I plan my guitar solos ahead of time, I practice what I’ll say from the stage so I don’t mess it up, and while I’m honest in my writing, I probably haven’t been as vulnerable as I should be.

I’m ready for a change.

I’m writing a song right now that says “maybe bravery is being afraid and doing it anyway.” I’ve never felt adequately equipped to live out my calling. Being an introvert who deals with anxiety, I haven’t always been the most thrilled to take the stage and be handed a microphone. I worry about what people will think, about whether or not I’ll mess everything up, and most importantly, whether what I’m saying and singing has any value at all.

But I’m ready to trust that God has placed me in music for a reason, and while I might not have anything worth saying on my own, what HE has done in my life is worth talking about. Christ alone has given me the creativity to write these songs, and the boldness to step in front of an audience and share my heart, even when I’m terrified. He has gently led me through these last eight years of recording albums and touring to share my music with others.

I’m writing for a new album right now, and I’m doing my best to think outside the box like my more creative friends. I want to strive for new sounds while remaining true to what I love to play. My prayer is that I can write lyrics that are both challenging and encouraging to myself and others who are on this wonderful journey of following Jesus Christ.

This fall, I’m embarking on my first headlining tour, and I’m going to work hard to make sure it’s a concert worth attending. I want folks to enjoy themselves and be entertained, but most of all, I want to do my best to show just how great Jesus Christ is. I truly believe that when we experience the beauty and truth of our Savior, we are never the same. My prayer is that during this next recording and touring season, I am bold in my art and bolder in my faith. I want to honor the Lord in what I say, sing, and do, both on and off the stage.

I am a Christ follower first and foremost, and I want my music to be more than just chords and melodies. I want it to reflect the beauty of my Creator, and to always point others to Him.

I couldn’t be more excited for this next season, and I’m so honored that you’ve chosen to let my music be a part of your journey. See you on the road soon.
