The "Clowns Of Rock 'n' Roll" had a very good year in 1959. This is the first of 3 songs that made it into the weekly top 10, peaking at #2. It was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller with no reference to the Peanuts character who was not yet popular. It's ironic that the lyrics, "Why's everybody always picking on me?" fit him so well.
