We were just getting ready to leave the house to go out of town. Low and behold a yearling was in our pool trying to get out. We had just got back home, so we estimate this little guy was in the pool for about 2-3 hours. We called animal control, and were waiting for them to come ( we did not want to approach the deer for it to be in distress as it was in the pool for a long time and it is cold), but it was getting tired and started to have it's head down for longer periods of time instead of treading water. After this we dried it off. It was very windy that this little guy could have not survived if we didn't dry him off and help him out. The sheriff came and helped us move the deer to the front yard to dry off. It was so tired it would not even move, it was trembling. It sat in our yard for 45 minutes in the sun. Animal control walked up to the deer and it got on all 4's and was able to walk, it stood for about 10 minutes and then ran when approached. It was a happy ending. However, we are very glad that it was noticed and we didn't come back from our trip with worst case scenario. The pool is now closed!
