On the first day of October, three men were killed and three more were wounded during five separate shooting incidents during a span of about four hours in Philadelphia.

Police say they have an 82-year-old man in custody for the shooting death of a 51-year-old man, shortly after 5 p.m. at this scene on 25th Street near Ingersoll Street in North Philadelphia.

Two more men were shot on this scene on 23rd Street near Stewart Street in North Philadelphia around 7 p.m. A 25-year-old man was shot once in the back and pronounced dead a short time later at Temple University Hospital. A 21-year-old man was shot in the hand and reported in stable condition.

Photojournalist Joe Kaczmarek covered both crime scenes for the GunCrisis Reporting Project.

Nearly 100 people were shot in Philadelphia during September.
