There is a common scam in Shanghai where a group of English-speaking young adults try to take tourists to fake tea performances and then charge them exorbitant prices after the show. These con artists hang around People's Square, YuYuan Garden, the Bund, and East Nanjing Road for the most part. If a random English-speaking person approaches you in Shanghai and is acting super nice and tries to take you somewhere, 99% of the time they're trying to rip you off. Watch out.
