The TRUE STORY of a group of friends who are united in their passion for music. Rock n' Roll, to be specific ~ Heavy Metal, to be exact! Taking place in the late 1980's. In the epicenter of the music scene: ~ Los Angeles, California USA ~
Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll is still the battle cry of the day! The phone is ringing, door is knocking and the Metal is blasting. People are coming and going. Simultaneous conversations declare multiple forms of revolution and frivolity.
Earthquakes, brawls, raids and mosh pits are only distractions until the next concert. The pace is as fast as the music. But it was just another day when it was happening. They didn't know it at the time but it was the end of an era. They did know one eternal truth:
ROCK 'n ROLL WILL NEVER DIE!
(My Feature Film Directorial Debut. Premiered at the Anthem Film Festival in Las Vegas. - All my projects have been learning experiences, like life itself, but the challenge on this project was lost/destroyed footage that made me sacrifice the pacing I wanted when it came to the very important editing phase AND the $50,000 per song fee that Metallica was asking to use their music. Would love to redo this film with the pacing and music that it deserves. As of now I am pitching this as a Cable Series. Sort of like an "Entourage" for Metal Fans!) -
THE PITCH: There is only ONE genre of music that has both nostalgic and current appeal. That has second and a third generation of fans. That has the best in the business still touring and creating new music. And that genre is ~ Heavy Metal!
Truly an untapped market for a televised series. Complete with a huge, rabidly loyal fan base. Fans that have proved they are always eager for merchandising of tee-shirts, music, DVD's, fan clubs, any and all things "Metal"!
Relevant guest appearances by artist of yesterday and today are as close and easy to book as my phone contact list. I have discussed this project with Lars, Slash and others. All positive feedback, all the time.
Also has the appeal of being based on actual events: Each episode begins with a historically accurate concert date and the mayhem that revolves around the characters before and after each show. They are late Teens and early Twenties. This is their college years.
The theme is great, the music is near perfect but the heart of the show comes from the solid relationships of the well defined characters. It is a character driven comedy. Fast paced, dark at times with plenty of reality based "Adult Situations". Can be toned down for network or "Turned up to 11" for cable.
