Venezuelan Vice-President Delcy Rodriguez thanked the International People's Assembly (IPA) for their support of her government in a speech from Caracas on Sunday.
"Today in Venezuela, freedom, independence, the dignity of the homeland are at risk," Rodriguez told delegates.
"You have reached a moment of combat and struggle for our countries, for our America, but also for all the peoples of the world who defend our inalienable right to be free, to be sovereign, to be independent," she added.
The first IPA has gathered more than 400 delegates from over 80 countries to show solidarity with the Bolivarian revolution and reject imperialism.
It is taking place at a moment when Venezuela is under pressure from several members of the international community, including the US and neighbours Brazil and Colombia.
