A Special Song dedicated to the Memory of Gail Russell (1924-1961), the Lovely Actress from Paramount Studios during the 1940's who charmed movie audiences with her exotic beauty and quiet, gentle manner. I have chosen some of the best portraits of Gail from my own private collection to give movie lovers an idea of just how lovely Gail was, and to make them realize how beautiful a woman could be. I don't know why, out of all the lovely actresses that have come out of Hollywood, I should have chosen Gail as my favorite. Maybe it was due to her tragic fall from Hollywood Fame, and her untimely death at the young age of thirty-six. Or could it be that I knew her from a previous life? I don't know for sure. This I do know, that after researching Gail and her career for over forty years, I know what a good person she was at heart, and that her fall from movie stardom was not due to any defect in character, but because it was an unwillingness to continue in a career she neither wanted nor enjoyed. Gail only turned to alcohol as a way to gather courage and the will to endure film making, not realizing that it would turn into an addiction that would eventually destroy her career and young life. So as you listen to this lovely song written by Lionel Richie, remember Gail Russell, and her Great Tragedy of an unfulfilled life, what might have been, and that you could just cry for Gail, and say how sorry you are for what happened to her. Rest in Peace, Dearest Gail, from your Dear Friend,Steve. Song "Lady" by Kenny Rogers
