Noam Chomsky spoke out about 9/11 on Iranian TV in November 2010, saying the US had no evidence that al Qaeda had done the 9/11 attacks. He pointed out discrepancies between the declared reason for the invasion of Afghanistan and the actual performance of the war. The video shows that the Taliban and al Qaeda figures alleged by the USA to be the perpetrators of 9/11 were allowed to escape without interference from the US military.

For the statement by FBI Director Muller that the FBI "believed" the 9/11 attacks were planned in Afghanistan, see Walter Pincus, 'Mueller Outlines Origin, Funding of Sept. 11 Plot" Washington Post 6 June 2002

Chomsky had previously referred to this statement in his 2003 essay "Commentary: moral truisms, empirical evidence, and foreign policy"

For Admiral Sir Michael Boyce's announcement that the bombing would continue "until the people of the country themselves recognize that this is going to go on until they get their leadership changed" see "War Plan Iraq" by Rai and Chomsky p. 32

For Mr. Mueller's statement 4/19/02 to the Commonwealth Club that

""In our investigation, we have not uncovered a single piece of paper either here in the United States or in the treasure trove of information that has turned up in Afghanistan and elsewhere that mentioned any aspect of the September 11 plot" see http://www.fbi.gov/news/speeches/part...

In 2005 CIA head Porter Goss told TIME magazine "I have an excellent idea of where [Osama bin Laden] is" but they're not going after him.

Note that Dr. Chomsky had made a similar statement years earlier, saying that the US provided had no evidence that Osama was guilty, probably because they didn't have any, and that the threat to continue bombing until Afghanistan changed its political leadership constituted an act that fit the textbook definition of terrorism.
