For more than a week Nelly Shankle has been living under a cloud of uncertainty. "I'm ready to be woken up from a nightmare." It's been 10 days since she's heard her son Noel's voice. "He's such a big piece of this family, he's a missing piece of the puzzle." Missing since February 3rd, finally another piece of the puzzle in Noel Shankle's disappearance emerges. After arriving in Harlingen and renting a silver 2011 Nissan Altima, he did drive into Mexico. According to authorities, Noel is seen on video crossing the Veteran's Bridge in Brownsville just one minute shy of it closing at midnight on February 3rd, 4 hours after he rented a car in Harlingen. Nelly keeps going over the last conversation she had with Noel after he landed at Valley International Airport that day. "It was some time between 7:30 and 8 friday night. He said mom I'm here and asked if I could wire some money. He said he needed $300 for the rental car and I said you have money for that. Apparently, some pending charges went through on his bank account and he didn't have as much as he thought. I was busy and asked if he needed the money right then and there, but he said he would figure it out and that's the last time we spoke." His mom is puzzled as to what may have happened next.. "We're just hoping that someone somewhere sees the news and knows something." The family admits that Noel has been in trouble with the law in the past, but says there is no way the family man making a living as a security guard would be tied to any type of criminal activity. Noel's pre-paid phone goes straight to voicemail now, but his mom has one message to give him. "Mijo hang tight we will find you. We will be there so stay strong." The missing case has been turned over to the FBI. According to authotities, Noel was alone in the vehicle when he crossed into Mexico.
