Michigan Engineer, Fall 2013: page 17: "A study by the Alliance for Water Efficiency estimates that for every million dollars spent on water efficiency in the U.S., 10 trillion gallons of water can be saved and 220,000 jobs can be created."

Since launching this video The Alliance for Water Efficiency has told us that 10 trillion gallons of water are made for every $10 billion spent. As they are the primary source for this information, we trust their number to be the correct one.

Nonetheless, the $10 billion level of public investment for $10 trillion gallons of water is still a bargain compared to $67 billion tunnels that will not make any additional water for California.
