In the past month I've seen several people trying to scam the public and take advantage of this ammo shortage by claiming their ordinary 7.62x39 Tulammo is steel core penetrating rounds. Their claim is that Tulammo QC is so bad that their armor piercing steel core ammo is often mixed in with their mild steel core target ammo. This is in fact nothing more than internet myth and rumor that people take advantage of to scam gun owners. However... the truth is that Tulammo uses whatever materials are available and cheap to them, and often do use a mild steel core in their ammo. However this steel is un-hardened and has no more penetrating characteristics than lead cores.
