There was definitely some good buzz being generated at the UMKC School of Dentistry, as faculty, students and staff recently took time out of their daily schedule for the schools annual Shear Madness event.
Shear Madness is an annual Students Take Action "fundrazor" to raise money for children with cancer to attend Camp Quality, an area summer camp, free of charge. On the day of the Shear Madness event, students, faculty, and staff can set their price — on their hair, that is. Audience members are then urged to pledge money until the price is met. When the bidding stops, the buzzing begins.
This years event raised more than $7000, which will cover the costs for seven area children to attend Camp Quality this summer, proving once again that, when it comes to community service, the UMKC School of Dentistry is a cut above the rest.
