The collapse of the Arrium Group of companies resulted in one of Australia’s most complex insolvencies. With 3,000 jobs on the line, and the future of Whyalla at stake, law firm Arnold Bloch Leibler (ABL) had to balance a multiplicity of interests of Arrium’s creditors, including its employees, bankers, trade suppliers and the Commonwealth and State governments.
