This video presents piqué turns by Olesya Novikova, Xiomara Reyes, and Aurélie DuPont.
A piqué (pee-kay) turn is performed by stepping on pointe or demi-pointe of the working leg with the other foot raised in arabesque or retiré. A piqué turn is executed by stepping onto one leg (typically right) with the other leg coming up to retiré position (foot to the knee in back of the leg). With momentum from the arms, the dancer turns clockwise. The step is typically performed by women and can be done along a diagonal or en menage (in a circle).
