Documentary: The Institute was inaugurated in 2001 but the indoor block started functioning in 2005. It has one hundred beds for the comprehensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation of disabled persons. The aim of AFIRM is to rehabilitate handicapped persons of Armed Forces and their families to regain physical, social and mental capabilities. Special care is offered to disabled persons having musculoskeletal ailments, neurological disorders, amputees, deaf, mute and blind children by various measures like Physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy, Occupational therapy and Speech therapy. The Spinal Rehabilitation Unit of AFIRM is at present the best equipped in the country with state-of-the-art electronic turning and tilting beds
