This is the first in a series of seven web seminars that focus on the science and engineering practices found within the Next Generation Science Standards. Presenter Mariel Milano, P-SELL and STEM Coordinator for Orange County (FL) Public Schools, talks about the role of technology and engineering in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). She discusses the definition of engineering and its role in NGSS—identifying the differences between scientific and engineering practices, but also highlighting how to integrate these practices in the classroom. Finally, she explores what engineering looks like in the classroom.
