Just a small side project of mine, thought it might help some people out. For most people the standard fit of the new Apple AirPods is really great. I did however have problems with them not being super secure. For me the fit really improved after this hack (while they could fall out before, they stay in place firmly now). It is very simple and cheap, so everyone
can try it. I also found it balanced out the sound significantly (a bit more bass and less harsh high tones). Benefits:
-Gives a tighter more secure fit for some ear shapes -Boosts the bass response and gets rid of harsh high end (especially on top volume levels) -Protects the AirPods from any dirt or earwax, easily replaceble -AirPods fit inside the charger/case with the mod
You need: syringe needle or another sharp metal object lighter very thin marker/pen standard white earbud foam covers (16-18mm work perfect), you can buy these super cheap online, for example on Amazon:
follow the video manual. The holes are for the IR sensors so you still have all the standard features like pause when headphone is out of the ear and double tap. You can try it out without making the holes just to see if you like the sound and fit and see the improvement (it was a big improvement for me). Hopefully this will help some people enjoy these great headphones or make them enjoy them even more :)
