Correct.... and after these 5 or 6 5,000 hp Cat power plants were sabotaged the MK units were retrofitted w/ 3600hp EMD power plants. Ha ha... I think. :P
No, not even close! They are a coal hauling railroad just out side Helper Utah. They are also contracted to BNSF to be used as helpers to push run through trains over Soldiers Summit. Check them out of Wikipedia. That will explain more of the railroad. Thanks for watching... The Union RR is small potatoes compaired to the Utah. I have a good many friends that work for the Union...

What type of rebuilt locomotive is the lead unit? It looks like a combination of an SD50, SD60, SD70, and with a cab of a Dash 9 and SD60M combined!
In 2001 The Utah Railway tested and later acquired all 6 units from Wabtec, the owner of MotivePower Industries. However, after one year of operation, all units were out of service due to problems with the main bearings on the Cat 3612 diesel engine and Kato main alternator. The units were returned to Wabtec and had the Cat 3612 and Kato main alternator removed and replaced with an EMD AR11 main alternator. At the same time, the engine blocks were replaced by EMD 3500HP
