Media Arts Project
Artist Statement The theme of my artwork is friendship. I have decided to create a short animation that teaches the audience about who true friends really are. We seem to be forgetting the idea of being friends as new fascinating electronic devices such as cell phones, ipods, and computers are developing in a rapid speed. Therefore I wanted to remind the viewer, how nice it is to have friends in a friendly and comforting way.
For this project, i have used 2 black markers and 207 pages of paper. The most successful parts of my animation are the choice of the music - the instrumental version of "You've got a friend in me", the relief in tension (humour), and the simple but accurate movements of the characters. If i could improve my work, I would make the drawings look more detailed, add colour, and perhaps insert some sound effects. After all, I am very proud of this animation and think that it was definitely worth spending a long time on.
Line is definitely one of the elements of designs that are present in my animation. every drawing is done in black marker lines which created a unique and simple appearance. Another element of design in my work would be colour, because there is no colour, but only black and white are used. Balance is the strongest principles of design that is in this work, since focus was equal on both characters, and also all scenes were visually balanced (not crowded on the one side of the sheet).
Hope you enjoy, and don't hesitate to leave some comments below if there are any questions!
