Looking at some of the victims of the 228 Massacre of 1947.
Part 3 is about Kang A-yue (康阿裕), a man from Yilan who was 16 years old at the time of the massacre. He was forced to bury other people alive who had been rounded up by the KMT, then he and his brother were beaten to unconsciousness and left for dead. His brother didn't survive. A-yue hid out for over a decade after that, living in the wilderness for all that time. Family members kept him alive by secretly taking him food and supplies by boat. The scar on his left cheek came from the bayonet of a KMT soldier.
Be careful to distinguish what's real footage and what's a reenactment.
