Chutneys, relishes, jams and preserves are a great way of using gluts of fruit or vegetables from the market or your garden. Our first attempt at growing tomatoes yielded a few kilos of unripe tomatoes, so I decided to use them in this easy and delicious green tomato chutney. I add beer to my chutney to give it a deeper flavour.
