This is in the introduction to Jack Whitehead's Masters and Doctoral Supervision section of his website http://www.actionresearch.net . In supervising living educational theories it is vital for the supervisor to express a commitment to making public the embodied knowledge of the practitioner-researcher, together with the evolution of this knowledge in the course of the enquiry. The supervisor should encourage the practitioner-researcher to have faith in their own methodological inventiveness in the development of the methodology used in the research programme and in the generation of a living educational theory.
