Superintendent Shari Camhi of the Baldwin, N.Y. district, wants school to be so exciting that students “push their parents out of the way” to get to their high schools in the morning. Her innovation: creating special academy courses, open to all students, that offer students internships, industry-based experiences, and competitions where students can apply their knowledge.
