The Center for Security and Defense Studies Foundation (CSDF) in Budapest, as a non-governmental research institution regularly organizes conferences about international security and defense issues. It is fifteen years now that Ukraine renounced its arsenal of nuclear weapons and the nuclear powers in return extended security guarantees to Ukraine and the Memorandum on Security Assurances was signed in Budapest under the aegis of OSCE. To commemorate this important event the CSDF together with the Ukrainian „Ediniy Svit" United World Foundation organizes an international conference, on the 21st of December, entitled "The Budapest Memorandum and the New Structure of Security in Europe". It is intended also to exchange views on President Obama's initiatives to build new partnership, to seek the goal of a world without nuclear weapons and President Medvedev's initiative to develop a new pan-European Security Treaty.
