Watch as we install a new head unit in a 2004 7th Gen. Honda Civic. We put in a Kenwood KDC-MP783U to replace the stock radio. Watch our trials and travails as we attempt to make a it a clean install.
We have established that you do not have to remove your center console to do this install, however I was trying to install the bluetooth module under the center console but it didn't work out, you can see a really good video response made saving time and steps. Some times when you make a video things happen as they unfold, I am not an expert but i did get it done. If you have a problem with this method of install I suggest you make your own video showing a better method which there is. I would have also liked to find a way to put the ipod connecter in the center console, but due to the cold and lazyness I didn't.
The trim ring we used is a "Metra 99-7897". Search for it on the internet it was about 20 bucks I believe and in my opinion has the cleanest look and allows you to keep the factory torage bin under the radio.
